Cellular Respiration

Are you READY for Cellular Respiration???????
Breathe in that O2 and get ready to accept some electrons and oxidize some glucose!

What is each stage of C.R. called?
Where in the cell is each stage taking place?
How much ATP is made from oxidative phosphorylation? from substrate phosphorylation?
What are the names of the electron carriers? Where do they carry the electrons?
What is the final electron acceptor?
Is C.R. a catabolic or anabolic pathway, what does this mean?
What is being oxidized?

A few questions to ask yourself as we journey through how our body gives us energy to do the work we need to do! How much ATP is used to answer these questions?

Other concepts to tie in (We are now ready for conceptual essays!)

energy coupling
ATP
enzymes
substrates
carbohydrates
functional groups
carbon skeletons
anabolic/catabolic pathways
endergonic/exergonic reactions
proton-motive forces
diffusion
pumps
proteins
membranes
organelles
concentration gradients
active transport
phosphates

just to name a few.........

Here is the C.R. video from class
